Returning to work after a career break or going back to work after an extended period away from work i.e., maternity leave can prove to be quite a challenge. Whatever the reason, the period of time absent from work causes a feeling of reduced confidence and lack of certainty about your ability to perform a particular job when you return to work.
Why this course?
This course is structured to provide the strategies for managing return to work. Not only will there be simulation scenarios to refresh your skills, but there will also be series of short relevant lectures to update you with the latest in the world of anaesthesia.
The course is limited to 8 participants, to provide individual attention. We will individualise the scenarios to cater to the grade of the anaesthetist. We will provide you with a course booklet prior to the course (via email) with the important algorithms, articles, references.
What to expect from this course?
Revision of algorithms: Resus (adult and paediatric), DAS
Real time physiology with medium/high fidelity
Chance to practice non-technical skills: communication, team work
Insight into error: understanding your limitation e.g. fatigue, anxiety on return to work
Confidence building: this is the main aim of the course
Debriefing session: to bring out the knowledge and for experimental and reflective learning
All the above is done in a non-threatening environment without real patients and hence, unable to cause any harm.
Hi, I will be returning to work in July after maternity leave and am interested in attending your July course. Do you have any spaces left?
I look forward to hearing from you.
